Dublin Core
Title
Census of people to be sold in 1838
Subject
Slave sale; Slave families; Slave trade
Description
This is the original list of people from the Jesuit plantations compiled in preparation for the sale in 1838. It lists the slaves by name according to plantation where they lived, identifies family groups, and records which ship (1, 2, or 3) they were shipped in. It also notes people who had run away, and those who had been "married off." A notation on the second page indicates that it was discovered by Fr. Joseph Zwinge (identified as "J.Z.") in Fr. Ashby's account book at Newtown.
