Description

An ArcGIS StoryMap of Chatham Plantation in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Dozens of members of the Maryland Jesuit enslaved community were sold by the Maryland Jesuits to Henry Johnson, the original owner of Chatham, and many ended up living at this plantation.

This StoryMap was developed by Georgetown student Sara Phillips (GU '22). Georgetown students are using new digital storytelling tools to help interpret materials from the Georgetown Slavery Archive and understand the historical connections between Georgetown, the Jesuits, and slavery.
