[February 19, 1843, to F. Joseph Carbery in St Inigoes]
I hope that my last letter of Jany 28th will have put an end to Dr Roache’s doubts about the amount of money sent by him in June 1841 thro Revd G. Fenwick, & that the too long procrastinated paymt of the $214 59/100 due for balance up to dec 31st 1841 will be paid without further delay, & of course with interest from Jany 1st 1842. F. McElroy, when at St Inigoes last November, wrote that Dr Roach had promised him to pay said balance by christmas.
This sum with the two small former ones announced as received in yr letter of Jany 17th being more than the amount of the taxes, R.E. Provl desires you would pay to Miss Jane Smith the amount of hire of a servt of hers employed by Revd W. Havermans. She claims one year; please to verify the time said hand has been employed for us, & to pay accordingly at the rate of $5 a month as agreed. News.
