Clem hired out, 1821- 1827

Several entries in college ledgers describe Clem receiving permission to hire himself out for $40 per year in 1825 and being hired out in 1826 and 1827. Clem's account also records payments and deductions for sickness. There are also two records of Clem being hired out to a William Marshall of Piscataway in Maryland in 1821 and 1822.
