Description
This is the account of Bladen Forrest for the labor of "servant Aaron." In this account Aaron is recorded as having worked at the college from May 7, 1849 to September 7, 1849. Forrest was a local Georgetown slaveholder. Forrest registered 8 enslaved people through the District of Columbia Compensated Emancipation Act in June 1862. Aaron is not listed among them. See Civil War Washington for Forrest's full petition. However, the College hired an Aaron Edmonson or Edmunston from Ann Forrest Green in the late 1850s and early 1860s, although it has not yet been determined whether the two Aarons are the same person or not.
