Description

An account book from St. Inigoes for the early 19th century includes this record of the distribution of shoes to the slave community in March, 1818. This remarkable record indicates the name and shoe size for each person who received shoes - thirty-nine in all.

This document can be compared with the tax assessment for St. Inigoes for 1821, in which many of the same names appear, although more people are listed on the tax assessment.
